What We Race

There are many different classes of RC racing available today and we aim to accommodate as many of these classes as possible at our club.

A wide range of on-road classes can be raced at the club, with regular heats for the GT12, LMP, Mini, and Hotrod classes. We would also invite any other 1:12th scale classes to race and we will work to accommodate them within our racing schedule on a club night.

The Bromham Village Hall we use as our race venue is a smaller area than others, with average lap times being around 7-8 seconds depending on track layout.

Main Classes Raced

GT12 is a mid-level class designed originally as a support and entry class to the 1:12th LMP cars, the cars are fast and light with real-world inspired GT3 car bodyshells. They run 1-Cell (1S) LiPo batteries, with a 13.5 turn brushless motor, foam tyres and a floating rear motor pod. Differential actions are allowed on the rear drive axle for those getting started but a fixed-axle spool is also commonly used.

The LMP (LeMans Prototype) class is the original 1:12th class class now suited for the advanced driver due to the increased speeds and handling. The cars are extremely light and agile, with a minimum 730g weight limit and wide rear tyres and streamlined bodyshells to provide maximum grip and speed. Using the same electrics and motors as the GT12 class means that multiple classes can be run whilst still keeping costs fairly low.

The Hotrod & Mini classes are part of the 1:12th Oval section and are ideal beginner classes. The cars are slower and heavier than other classes, as well as being much more robust so are an ideal entry point into the world of on-road RC racing. We recommend first-time drivers look into these classes as a starting point, as they are much more affordable to get started with than a GT12 or LMP class, and require much less regular maintenance to keep running. They use brushed motors and either 4-cell NiCd (Nicad) or 1-cell (1S) LiPo batteries, with fixed gearing and solid rear axles, with solid chassis and no damping.

There are many manufacturers for the classes we race, including Schumacher, Zen/Destiny, Mardave and Kamtec. If you would like to know more about the cars we race and see them in action, come to a club meeting and speak to a committee member, or contact us at [email protected]

It is our aim to bring together all the best aspects of the hobby of radio controlled model car racing. Racing will be indoors on a carpet track at the Village Hall in Bromham, Bedfordshire. Please contact us to find our more or pop along to our Friday evening club nights.
