Autumn 2024 RC Car Racing at Beds Model Car Club
Autumn is upon us, the nights are drawing in and a return to indoor RC Car Racing for those among us who are fair weather RC Car Racers is in the cards.
The good news is we have RC Racing Classes and heats for all levels of ability and competitiveness.
Read on for an overview of what’s new and brewing at Bedfordshire Model Car Club.
Facebook Events Scheduled Weekly
In an aim to spread the word about the club, we’ve started to consistently publish weekly “events” posts on the Facebook Group.
Remember to tap “interested” or “going” on the Event Post so we can keep the Facebook algorithm working in our favour.
Our weekly booking in form is still in action – so PLEASE do remember to get booked in, as it helps us get grids organised and keep things running smoothly on the night.
Check out the “Events” tab on the Facebook Group for the latest event post:

If you’ve never attended Beds, or even raced a Radio Controlled Car before – rest assured, we’re a welcoming, friendly and supporting club. We understand that we all started somewhere, and there are no stupid questions.
We’d advise coming along to watch, speak to a few club members and get a feel for what the hobby involves – and get pointed in the right direction in terms of cars and kit you could buy to get involved.
You can always pop a post on the Facebook Group if you have any questions ahead of coming over and meeting us on a Friday Evening.
Big Wheels @ Beds
The big wheels class kicked off over the summer at Beds and has been crowd-pleaser to say the least.
See for yourself in this short FB Video over on the FB Group.
Any big wheeled RC car is welcome. Tamiya Lunchbox is a racer’s favourite, but if you want to come and have some fun – just make sure it’s got big wheels and you’ve got an even bigger smile.
The Italian Job Crew Returns – Mini Mardave, Kamtec & Battcave
The Mini class has been through a metamorphosis in the last 18 months, with a “Brushless” version of the class evolving from the cacoon after some reflection on the “true cost” of competitiveness in the Brushed motor version of the class.
Whether brushed, or brushless – we’re racing the Mini class at Bedfordshire Model Car Club, following in the footsteps on the Mini Masters national series in a set of rules and guidelines.
Here’s a link to the latest rules we’re running to (with the aim of keeping things standardised and fun).
As national rules get absorbed into the BRCA documentation, we’ll seek to adopt those and align with class rules. In the meantime, we’ll align with the Mini Masters championship.
GT12 Nationals – Running Throughout Autumn Winter
I’d be remiss not to mention the fact that GT12 Nationals are running throughout the next few months, with Round 2 at West Bridgford Model Car Club wrapped up only yesterday – our very own Alex Eve taking a 1st Place in the C Final.
With several Beds drivers making the journey and competing at the National Level, we’re of course giving them all our support as they represent us at the highest level of the Hobby and Sport in the UK.
Here’s the full video of the GT12 A-Final from West Bridgford on Sunday 20th October – giving you an idea of the competitiveness at the sharp end.
