Construction Rules – Tamiya Trucks

Chassis

  • TT01-e and TT02 are permitted chassis
  • Hop ups allowed:
    • Bearings
    • Turnbuckles
    • Oil filled shocks
    • Aluminium prop shaft
    • Aluminium wheel hexes
    • Motor mount
    • Universal driveshaft and hubs
  • Short wheelbase is permitted only by reversing the rear wishbones
  • The minimum ride height is 5.0mm

Electrics

  • The kit supplied ESC, Hobbywing 1060 or Hobbywing 1080 are permitted
  • Any steering servo
  • Torque Tuned motor, silver can or Core 21 brushed motors are permissible.
  • 2s LiPo or 6 cell NiMh batteries
  • No Gyro’s permitted
  • Motors must remain un-tampered, however cleaning of the motor is allowed. This includes the use of cleaning fluids. Running in/comm drops and lubricants are permitted
  • Heat sinks and/or cooling fans are permitted

Wheels and Tyres

  • Stock Tamiya truck tyres only
  • Truck stock wheels or M chassis wheels only
  • Tyre foam inserts are allowed
  • Tyre warmers are not allowed
  • With the exception of applying “Super Glue”, tyres must not be modified in any way
  • Additive may be used and must be in accordance with the latest BRCA listing
    • Currently Spider Blue, Spider Green & SXT 3.0

Body

  • Truck / Lorry cab truck bodies from any manufacturer but may not be modified in any way
  • Wings are now allowed, they make no difference to performance

Transmission

  • Gearing to be Tamiya mod 0.6 gear pitch. 58T spur, 25T pinion for TT01-e. 64 spur, 27 pinion for TT02 gearing that makes the truck slower is acceptable
  • 48dp and 64dp gear pitch is not permitted
  • Any grease or oil may be used to replace the kit supplied grease in the differential. Substances having a consistency like Blu-Tack and/or not being sold as diff grease or oil may not be used
  • The differential must not be locked up, when either driving wheel is rotated by hand, the opposite wheel must rotate in the opposite direction. The use of additional shims to add resistance to the diff action is strictly forbidden
  • Spools and “solid axles” are specifically not allowed

These rules are self-policed, the club will not get involved with any disputes regarding rule-breaking. Remember, racing is supposed to be fun!
